Sculpture is a three dimensional art work created by shaping or combining hard materials, stone, marble, metal, glass, wood, ceramics and many other materials.  Sculptures have been found dating back to 10,000 BC.  It has been used to represent civilizations, religions, wars, politics, lifestyle,  ideas,  love, beauty, sports, and much more.  Our knowledge of civilizatios are often based on the sculptures they created and left behind.

Today, many find that sculpture satisfies in a different way from paintings and collect both of these art forms for their home or business.  Paintings are a feast for the eyes.  Sculpture, being three dimensional,  can be a feast for the eyes and touch. Whether modernism or realism, the three dimensions offer a kind of presence within a space that becomes almost companionlike.

Mary Martin Gallery has searched for sculptors who have national and international reputations.  We are happy to share with you knowledge of our artists and how their work reflects their particular take on the world.
